I can't bank on three full seasons at Man Utd - Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim

The Manchester United coach - pictured getting support post May's Europa League final defeat - states he is happy by the co-owner's continued commitment but underscored that the future is unpredictable in the sport.

Manchester United head coach the Portuguese coach feels it's significant Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly shared his long-term thoughts - but notes nothing is assured about the future in the sport, let alone three years.

Through a conversation with a leading newspaper in recent days, the co-owner mentioned it may need Amorim a three-year period to create substantial change at the Theatre of Dreams.

Emerging in an era when the coach's tenure has been receiving close inspection in the wake of a lengthy stretch of poor performances, the statements assisted in calming some of the immediate pressure.

But, speaking before the 100th meeting with old rivals the Reds at their home ground, the manager underscored that tomorrow is difficult to forecast in football.

"It is really good to listen to that but he communicates to me all the time, occasionally through communication post fixtures - but understand, I realize and Jim knows, that football is not like that," he commented.

"The crucial element is the upcoming match. Even with owners, you cannot manage tomorrow in soccer."

Chief executive Berrada has admitted it has taken significantly extended periods for Amorim to adapt to the Premier League after his transfer from Sporting last November than anybody anticipated.

Manchester United have achieved 10 times in 34 league games during Amorim's tenure. They still haven't achieved back-to-back league wins and didn't complete a matchday this season higher than ninth.

The concerning numbers are stretching belief in the head coach among the Red Devils supporters heading into a run of games their team has struggled during for the previous two campaigns.

Amorim said he doesn't sense the uncertainty within the organization at the team's practice complex and is firm nothing equals the stress he places on the team - and in some senses, he would rather Ratcliffe to refrain from seeking to establish serenity because he fears the effect it might produce on the team.

"It's not just something people discuss, I sense it daily," he stated. "It's truly positive to hear it because it helps our fans to comprehend the management understand it will require a while.

"But at the same moment, I don't like it because it generates a sense that we own time to work things out. I don't wish for that feeling in our club.

"The pressure I apply to the players or upon myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In soccer, particularly at major teams, you must demonstrate yourself every weekend."
